Hutchinson is home to two of the most amazing and unique museums you will find anywhere in the country! Make sure you take a day or two and check them out. We guarantee you will be entertained!
With real NASA space vehicles, an SR71 Blackbird and historically accurate recreations of a lunar lander and space buggy, the Cosmosphere lets you see and explore the evolution of the American space program from early Nazi V1 rockets all the way to the Space Shuttle program. And don’t forget to catch a flick at the IMAX theater, where you can see Hollywood favorites as well as documentaries that will leave you breathless.
Anytime you are close to Hutchinson, you want to make sure you visit the Kansas Cosmosphere and Discovery Center. The Kansas Cosmosphere contains one of the most extensive collections of historical space artifacts anywhere in the United States.
The caverns are also home to some of the most unexpected archival storage where archival copies of many of the most famous movies ever made are stored in the constant temperature and humidity environment that is natural to the mines.
The ground under Hutchinson contains one of the largest salt deposits in the world. Stratacacelebrates that fact by allowing you to take a tour 650 underground and see how salt is mined.
